It is beginning to sound like a broken record.

For the third time in five meets, the sixth-ranked UA gymnastics team (10-2) has given a solid effort in three events, only to literally fall on the beam. The Wildcats' latest miscue was recorded at the UCLA/Gilda Marx Invitational where Arizona's 46.875 beam score knocked the team to third place with a 191.525, behind No. 19 UCLA (194.225) and No. 9 Brigham Young (193.8). Cal State-Fullerton finished fourth with a 191.125.

The Wildcats' best finish was in the vault where their score of 48.55 was just 0.150 behind the Bruins' first-place mark of 48.70. But that was the highest placing for Arizona, which finished fourth in the bars (48.125), beam (46.875) and floor (47.975) events.

Arizona was also missing from the individual awards, managing only two finalists. Senior Jessica Marshall recorded a 9.775 on the vault for a three-way tie for second, and freshman Heidi Hornbeek took second in the floor with a 9.90.

While all-around regulars Hornbeek and junior Tenli Poggemeyer slipped a bit with scores of 37.95 and 37.75, respectively, emerging freshman Maureen Kealey gave the Wildcats a positive to look back on, finishing fourth overall with a 38.65. Kealey was Arizona's only consistent performer, recording scores of 9.7 in the vault, 9.775 in the bars, 9.575 on the beam and 9.6 on the floor.
