Another student assaulted near campus

Some students say they feel uneasy on campus at night

An attempted sexual assault on Tuesday night left a UA student beaten and others concerned for their safety as they walk or ride their bikes at night.

A 25-year-old architecture student was riding home on her bike Tuesday night when she was reportedly beaten by the suspect.

Sgt. Judy Altieri, a Tucson Police Department spokeswoman, said the incident is not related to two earlier assaults in the University of Arizona area, nor did the suspect succeed in sexually assaulting the victim.

Gardner's career-high 34 points not enough

Arizona head coach Lute Olson said all last week that Kansas's inside game was one of the best in the country. The Jayhawks did not disappoint Saturday, as they out-worked, outran and out-shot the UA men's basketball team en route to a 105-97 victory in McKale Center.

Avid bicyclist remembered for his kind heart

Finding the good in a tough loss

As Salim Stoudamire left the empty Arizona locker room Saturday afternoon with his head down, someone said to him, "Don't worry, it's a long season."

The freshmen on the UA basketball team need to realize that.

The season won't be as easy as the first three games. After beating three top-25 teams to start the season, the Wildcats went from unranked to the No. 3 team in the country.

After Saturday's loss to No. 9 Kansas, Arizona players are starting to realize just how much work they still have to do to be among the best.

Letters to the Editor

Caretto letter hypocritical

I was deeply disturbed by (David) Caretto's religious interpretations ("Lee column ruined by personal bias," Friday). Mr. Caretto feels that it is not right to comment on faith if you don't have any. Would you also say that someone can't oppose a war because they have never fought in one? It sounds to me as if you have a misconception of what faith is.

Smuggler's Run 2 pilfers the grade

Take a trip into Vietnam and Russia in the new Playstation 2 game Smuggler's Run 2. Even though the play of SR2 is much like the first, the features of the new game make for an awesome improvement.

SR2 has the same basic game play as the original version. You're a person who is strapped for cash, and with different vehicles, it is your job to transport an assortment of contraband without being arrested by an array of authoritative personnel.
