Three 18-year-old students were arrested early Tuesday after police found them drinking in a room in the Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St.
Police were seeking charges of minor in possession of alcohol against Robert M. Horton, John E. Erikson and Joshua D. Sweat, all residents of Arizona-Sonora.
Police also seized a burnt marijuana cigarette and a toilet paper tube with an attached fabric softener sheet in the room. The three men told police they did not own the seized items.
The men were arrested after two resident assistants smelled marijuana on the sixth floor and called police. When officers entered the room with Erikson, police saw Sweat conceal a beer bottle although several empty bottles lay by his feet.
Sweat told police they paid an unidentified man to buy the beer and that they had been drinking for about two hours.
The men each smelled of alcohol, police said.
Horton told police the drug items could belong to a man identified as "Chris" who previously had been in the room with several other people. Horton could not further identify the man because Tuesday was his first night in the hall.

About $700 in cash and checks, a bank card, identification and a brown, bi-fold wallet were stolen Tuesday from the Life Sciences Buiding, 1007 E. Lowell St.
The owner told police someone stole his leather wallet, which was left in a bag in an unlocked lab room for about 30 minutes.

An unidentified person threw a rock through the back window of a green, 1994 Chevrolet Blazer sometime Tuesday morning.
The owner told police someone vandalized his car, which was parked on the south side of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity house, 1050 N. Cherry Ave., between 2:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.

A bicycle, valued at $120, and a bicycle computer, valued at $25, were stolen Monday from the fifth floor of the Space Sciences Building, 1629 E. University Blvd.
The owner told police someone stole her blue and grey Sears "Free Spirit" bicycle and small mounted computer sometime between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.
