'Pagemaster' tempts audience to find exit

THURSDAY, NOV. 24 (Thanksgiving Ä No Classes)

If you are not going home for Thanksgiving dinner, head over to the Screening Room, 127 E. Congress St., for its presentation of "Rebellion in Pategonia" at 8 p.m. This Argentinian film has been unavailable for viewing for many years due to death threats toward the director and cast members. Admission is $3 and will continue showing until Sunday. For showtimes, call the Screening Room at 622-2262.

FRIDAY, NOV. 25 (Holiday Ä No classes)

The fifth annual Social Pow Wow and Indian Market, sponsored by the National Native American Cooperative, will start at 4 p.m. and continue through midnight at the Amigos Indoors Complex, 250 E. 36th St. (at the corner of 36th Street and Fourth Avenue). The pow wow is held in celebration of Native American Month and will feature more than 50 different Western tribal nations expressing their arts and crafts, traditional foods, dances and songs. The event will continue on Saturday from noon to midnight and on Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. For more information call the National Native American Cooperative at 622-4900.

SATURDAY, NOV. 26

Tucson Parks and Recreation Department will present the Reid Park Arts and Crafts Fair from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the corner of 22nd Street and Country Club Road. Hundreds of artisans will show and sell their unique, handicrafted items. Food vendors will also be available to sell a wide variety of ethnic delights. The Community Food Bank will be raffling artisian-donated crafts with all proceeds from ticket sales supporting the food bank during the holiday season. The fair will continue on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free parking and a shuttle service will be available from Hi Corbet Field parking lot. SUNDAY, NOV. 27

The UA College of Architecture continues presenting its two photography exhibits: "Photography: Seeing and Understanding" at the Sundt Design Gallery in the Architecture Building from noon until 5 p.m. The first exhibit, titled "Light, Form, Texture, Shadow," represents the work of Paula Grusenmeyer, UA graduate architecture student. "Perception and Past : An Interdisciplinary Inquiry into the Perception of Perception Itself," the second exhibit, is the product of an interdisciplinary architecture course taught by Marie O'Neill and Maggie Valentine, professors from the School of Architecture, Montanta State University, Bozeman. MONDAY, NOV. 28

The Invisible Theatre,1400 N. First Ave., continues its Season of Connections with "Love Letters" opening at 8 p.m. The show consists of a unique piece comprising letters exchanged over a lifetime between two people who grew up together and then went their separate ways. Show performances will continue until Dec. 18, and there will be a $2 discount for patrons attending a second show. For ticket information and showtimes, call the Invisible Theater at 882-9721.

"Andrew Harkins: Snippets of Memory" will be exhibited at the Joseph Gross Gallery in the Art Building from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit is a collaboration between photographer Kathy Armstrong and sculptor Isabel Farnsworth presenting the unfinished work of late photographer Andrew Harkins. An opening reception will also be held tonight at the gallery from 5-7 p.m. The exhibit will be on display until Jan. 6. TUESDAY, NOV. 29

The Dinnerware Artists' Cooperative Gallery, 135 Congress St., will unveil the photographic works of Ann Simmons-Myes, Camillie Bonzai, and Diane Mansfield-Colligan as well as the paintings of Nancy Hall Brooks. The Gallery will also be holding a special opening reception on Dec. 10 from 7-9 p.m. which will be open to the public. The exhibit will be presented until Dec. 23. The UA Wind Symphony will perform a concert at 8 p.m. in Centennial Hall. Works performed will include "Symphonic Metamorphosis" by Hindemith, "Three Dances from Spartacus" by Kachaturian, and "Tears" by Maslanka. Tickets will cost $6 for general admission, $5 for UA employees, and $3 for students and senior citizens. For more information, call the UA Band office at 621-1683.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 30

The Adjunct Faculty readings will be featuring Barbara Cully, poet, and Christopher McIlroy, fiction writer, at 8 p.m. in the Modern Languages Auditorium. Ms. Cully has published poetry in American Poetry Review, Antioch Review, Ploughshares and Denver Quarterly. Mr. McIlroy has won the 1992 Flannery O'Conner Award for his book of short stories All My Relations. For more information, call the UA Poetry Center at 321-7760.
