A 35-year-old man was arrested and charged with presenting false information to a police officer Monday evening after offering to sell "crack" to a UA student in the Student Union.
Donald L. Lathrop, of the 800 block of West Kelso Street, was arrested about 5:20 p.m. after handing a note stating,"Do you want to buy some crack?" to a student in a lounge. The victim declined, left the area and notified police.
As police interviewed the victim, an officer noticed a man matching the description walking downstairs in the lobby where the incident occurred. When police pointed out the man, the victim said, "Oh yeah ִ that's the guy right there."
Lathrop told police his name was "Donald Kramer," but then gave the police his correct name. Three pieces of paper with the words, "Do you want to buy some crack?" were found in his jacket pocket. Lathrop said he did not have any crack cocaine, but planned to take money from victims and leave.
He was taken to Pima County Jail.

A vending machine was reported vandalized between 6:20 and 8:30 p.m. Monday on the south side of the Education building. About $200 worth of merchandise was taken.
