A 17-year-old runaway was detained after police found him in a second floor room in the Sierra Residence Hall Thursday.
The young man was booked for violating probation and false reporting to law enforcement at Pima County Juvenile Detention Center.
Police officers responded to a tip that a teenager fitting the description of a Yuma County felony warrant was at the hall. The female resident of the room admitted the police officers to the room.
When police asked the teenager to identify himself, he gave a fake name, address and Thursday's date. When police asked if it was his birthday, the boy looked puzzled then agreed, police said.
Police later correctly identified the teenager who told them he was afraid he would get arrested if he told the truth.

A $5,000 truck was stolen Thursday from a parking lot near East Sixth Street and North Euclid Avenue.
The owner told police someone stole his tan 1984 Chevrolet half-ton truck between 8 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. One of the owner's co-workers told him the truck was still in the lot at noon.
Two high school students asked the owner about buying the truck the day before it was stolen, he said.

A unidentified male was seen ripping up posters early Friday in the Apache-Santa Cruz Residence Hall.
A resident assistant reported seeing a man with no shirt rip up the posters then leave with a beer in his hand.
Police have no suspects.

A $650 bicycle was stolen from the Alpha Phi sorority, 1339 E. First St., between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday.
The owner told police someone took his Nishiki Colorado men's bicycle from the sorority's bike cage on the west side of the house. The mountain bicycle is black with white paint splashes and has an orange sidewall front tire.
The bicycle's U-lock was left behind.

A gray KHS men's bicycle was stolen Thursday from the fifth floor lobby of the Marley Building, 1145 E. Fourth St.
The owner told police someone took his $500 bicycle, which had been left unlocked between 4 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.
