A 20-year-old male student was stabbed in the neck by two men who robbed him of $10 Wednesday night.

The student was treated for a small cut to the right side of his neck at University Medical Center and released.

The victim was attacked by two men about 8:20 p.m. near the vending machine area northeast of the Bio Sciences West building at 1040 E. Fifth St.

The two suspects are described as a Hispanic male, age 19-21, about 5 feet 8 inches, and a thin black male, age 19, with braided hair, buck teeth, a blue T-shirt, dark pants and a black ball cap.

The first suspect reportedly blocked the student's path, then put the student in a headlock. Then the man put a four-inch knife to the

student's neck and demanded his wallet.

The student then felt the knife cutting his neck.

When the student handed the money to the second suspect, the first suspect demanded the wallet again. The student threw his wallet toward the second suspect and the two men separated, leaving the scene.

Police later located an employee of a campus restaurant who said he saw two men who fitted the suspects' descriptions. The witness said he helped the Hispanic suspect treat a cut on his left thumb.

The witness also said he knew the two suspects and gave police their names. The suspects told the witness they had just gotten some money and wanted to go to Phoenix, police said.
