Two men were arrested for selling magazines Wednesday in Apache-Santa Cruz Residence Hall.

Police are seeking charges of criminal trespass against Sean R. Avillez, 22, of Washington and Dudley R. Marques, 21, of Hawaii.

The men were arrested after the residence hall director caught them soliciting magazine subscriptions door-to-door.

Avillez had been warned Monday by police about selling magazines on campus.

A stereo disc player was damaged and a purse and its contents were stolen Wednesday from a car parked in the administration parking garage, 1340 E. Second St.

The owner told police she parked her car about 1:30 p.m. When she returned about four hours later, someone had pried open the passenger side window. The thief stole the purse but only partially removed the stereo.

Somone stole a $10 flashlight and a stereo of unknown value Monday from two cars parked next to each other in a university parking lot near East Mabel and North Warren Avenue.

The first owner told police she parked her car at 6:15 p.m. and returned at 11 p.m. to find her driver's side rear door vent window smashed. The thief stole only a flashlight from her car.

The other car owner found her passenger's rear door vent window smashed and her stereo gone.

Police have no suspects.

About $630 in stereo equipment and cassette tapes were stolen early Wednesday from a Jeep parked near the Apache-Santa Cruz Residence Hall.

The owner told police she left the top down on her unlocked Jeep. When she checked on her car at 10:30 a.m., she found the items missing.

The wires on the Jeep's clock were cut along with the stereo wires. The clock reportedly stopped at 1:30 a.m.

A $300 bicycle and cable lock were stolen Wednesday near the Psychology building.

The owner said she locked her pink Specialized mountain bicycle to a rack on the west end of the building about noon. Three hours later the bicycle was gone.
