UA men's soccer to take on Germans

Germany faltered in the semifinals of the World Cup but that doesn't mean the entire country has given up on the sport of soccer.

A professional youth team from West Falen is taking on the UA men's club team in an exhibition game.

The two teams square off at 8 p.m. tomorrow at Wildcat Field.

"It will be a strong test," UA coach Ron Fox said. "They are tactically much more aware than we are. Physically they might be a little bit stronger."

The West Falen team is composed of 16- and 17-year-olds known as apprentices who are getting ready to some day join the regular professional European leagues.

"They're all big and strong. They extend the rigors of professional soccer," Fox said. "I'm guessing it will be an evenly balanced game."

Arizona is 10-1-2 in their fall schedule.
