Police responded to Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., Tuesday morning, in response to a fight-in-progress call.
When police arrived, the victim reported he was struck by an unknown person as the suspect drove by in a car.
The victim said he observed an altercation between the unknown occupants of two vehicles Ÿ a red Wrangler or Range Rover with a sunroof and white antenna, and a black Jeep.
Witnesses said the two vehicles had struck each other in the street and the occupants exchanged words. The red vehicle then went west on Fifth Street toward North Euclid Avenue, made a U-turn, and struck the Jeep intentionally, according to witnesses.
As the red vehicle then sped east, it passed the victim, who was watching the incident in the street. Someone in the vehicle then extended their arm from the passenger side of the vehicle and allegedly struck the victim.
The victim refused medical treatment and had slight redness on his cheek. He said he wanted to press charges if the suspect could be identified.
University of Arizona police advised Tucson police of the incident, but the suspect was not found.

While responding to the assault call at Coronado Residence Hall, police arrested a man after he ran from officers arriving to investigate the assault.
Jeffrey M. McCarty, 18, a resident of LaPaz Residence Hall, 602 N. Highland Ave., was charged with minor in possession of a spirituous liquor.
As an officer was arriving at Coronado, another officer radioed to advise that a male in a white T-shirt was running north from the scene. An officer went into the parking lot north of Coronado and observed the subject duck behind a parked vehicle.
As police approached the subject, he ran on foot. Police pursued him and called out, "Stop, police," four or five times, but the subject did not stop.
The officer tackled the man in the parking lot of Park Student Center, taking him to the ground.
The officer then noticed a strong odor of alcohol on the man's breath. When asked, the man said he "had a few beers," then told the officer he was "16," then said he was "18."
McCarty was not involved in the assault and no one at the scene was sure why he ran.
McCarty told police he just ran when the cops came, but did not know why. He was cited and released on the scene.

Two females reported a suspicious man near the Student Recreation Center, 1400 E. Sixth St., to police Tuesday afternoon.
At 4 p.m., the females said a male in his 30s was sitting in a blue Chevrolet Cavalier parked in a lot at the northeast corner of East Seventh Street and North Highland Avenue.
The women said the man called out to them, saying he was masturbating in his car and asked them if they wanted to watch.
One of the women saw him drive away and got the partial license plate "ABŸŸ." They could not identify him, nor did they actually see him masturbating.

A student called police to report he had recovered his bicycle that had apparently been stolen.
The student said he locked his bicycle with a combination cable lock in the courtyard of Graham-Greenlee Residence Hall, 1418 E. Fourth St., at 8:30 a.m. Monday. When he returned at 9 p.m. Tuesday, the bike was stolen.
The student found his bike at the Student Recreation Center, 1400 E. Sixth St., in a bike rack with a cable around the front tire, but with no lock.
When police arrived, the student provided a Parking and Transportation registration receipt that matched the permit on the bicycle. The bike's serial number also matched the one written on the receipt.
There was no apparent damage to the bike, and it was released to the student. The cable that was around the bike's tire was taken into evidence.

A student reported the theft of her bicycle from the courtyard of Maricopa Residence Hall, 1031 E. North Campus Dr.
The student locked her teal Murray 15-speed bike to a stanchion inside the gated courtyard at 9 a.m. Oct. 4. The bike and lock were discovered missing at 9 p.m. Tuesday. They are valued at $115.

A bicycle was stolen from the racks east of Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., sometime since Friday.
A student locked his Schwinn 12-speed bicycle to a rack at 2 p.m. Friday. When the student returned at 8:30 a.m. Monday, the bike was missing.
The lock used to secure the bike was left behind.
The loss is valued at $275.
