Cats-Eye

Cats-Eye, the UA's volunteer-run, student-produced television show, will debut on KVOA, channel 4 this Sunday at 2 p.m.

Now in its second season, Cats-Eye is formatted as a news magazine, featuring sports, entertainment and news segments. This year's program will include pieces on the proposed bar in the union, women soccer's second season in the NCAA as well as reviews of local bands.

"It is information about the university for students by students," said Kimberly Nielsen, journalism/political science junior and co-director of Cats-Eye.

The ASUA-funded TV program also is used as an opportunity for students to experience television production.

"Our first focus is on the students," said Christopher North, a media arts senior and a director at Cats-Eye.

Students are responsible for all the reporting, producing, camera work and editing.

This year's debut on the local NBC affiliate places Cats-Eye among few student-produced shows nationwide.

Cats-Eye hopes to secure a regular quarterly airing time on KVOA for future broadcasts.
