UA vs. Cal

The Wildcats (2-2, 0-1) hope to get back on track tomorrow at 3:38 p.m. against the Golden Bears (1-2, 0-0) at Arizona Stadium.

Both teams are coming off disappointing starts and respectively are looking for their first Pac-10 victory.

Talent search

Garrison Keillor's public radio program, A Prairie Home Companion, is searching for Tucson talent to perform with the show when it broadcasts live nationwide from Centennial Hall on Nov. 18.

Musicians and poets whose work uniquely represents the Tucson area are encouraged to send a biography and audio cassette, compact disc or video tape by Oct. 10 to: Talent Search, KUAT/KUAZ Radio, University of Arizona, Tucson AZ 85721.

Submissions cannot be returned. Talent search finalists will be contacted in early November.

Water polo

Preseason is almost over for the University of Arizona men's and women's water polo teams.

The two teams will be playing exhibition games Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Student Recreation Center. Anyone interested in playing is invited to show up on Sunday, or join the men's team at its first official practice, Monday at 5 p.m. at the Rec Center.

UA Symphony

The UA Symphony Orchestra, conducted by John Roscigno, will feature symphonies by Shostakovich and Sibelius this weekend at Crowder Hall in the Music Building.

The performances are tomorrow at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m., with ticket prices ranging from $6 for general admission, $5 for UA employees and $3 for seniors and students. Tickets are available through the UA Fine Arts Box Office at 621-1162.

Pony Express

The first annual Dick Tomey Pony Express will be held on the UA Mall tomorrow at 7:30 a.m.

Runners and top wheelchair racers from across the nation will compete in the Fun Run, 5 km and 10 km races.

Registration for the 5 and 10 km events will begin at 6:30 a.m. on the UA Mall, just west of Campbell Avenue.
