Two students reported receiving threatening phone calls Sunday.

The first student, a resident of Graham-Greenlee Residence Hall, 610 N. Highland Road, said she received an unfamiliar number on her digital pager. She called the number and heard a message that said, ³Look, bitch, you know who you called, I¹m gonna kick your ass.²

The resident left a message saying the page was probably a mistake, and left her phone number for the person to call her back to straighten out the problem.

The resident then received seven or eight calls from both a male and a female subject. The callers called the resident a ³bitch² and threatened to ³bust a cap.²

U.S. West Communications placed a tracer on the resident¹s phone to attempt to determine the origin of the threatening calls.

Police called the number from the pager, and the message had changed. Loud background music made the message difficult to understand, but references were made to ³bitch² and ³S.S. Crips,² according to police reports.

The second student said he received a message on his answering machine at 3:03 a.m.

The message said, ³Yo, watch your back ... or I¹m fucking gonna come and kick your ass, punk, bitch, nigger.²

The victim said the message might be related to a conversation he had with his roommate. The two were discussing fraternities¹ hazing practices when the victim said he thought Sigma Phi Epsilon hazed their pledges. The roommate later went to a Sigma Phi Epsilon party and mentioned the conversation to some Sigma Phi Epsilon members.
