A man reported the theft of items totaling more than $6,000 from his vehicle while it was parked on the first level of the McKale Center parking garage sometime Saturday night.

The man told police he parked his Nissan van in the garage around 6:30 p.m. When he returned about three hours later, he found his rear window broken and six items missing.

A CB radio, valued at $300; a radar detector, valued at $300; a Columbia RXS one-speed bicycle, valued at $1500; binoculars, valued at $250; a camcorder, valued at $1200; and a fax machine, valued at $2700, were all reported missing from the van, police said.

Most of the items had just been purchased and were still in boxes, police said.

The man told police he already repaired the window and cleaned out the car. Although police may be unable to dust the car for finger prints, the man agreed to bring it in to UAPD some time this week.

No further information was available.
