I understand that one of the journalism program is the recent figure showing that only 30 percent of U of A journalism graduates receive jobs upon graduation. Yet, regardless of what field any student is in, no one is guaranteed a job upon graduation. Does this mean we should simply stop educating?

Maybe this should be the reason for all of these proposed cuts rather than the old "just another budget cut" excuse. It's unavoidable that the university must make budget cuts, but maybe the University Budget and Planning Committee should do its job according to its title: plan a budget!

I don't understand how a university can spend thousands of dollars on useless causes such as sculptures for the Rec center and security costs so a man can sit on our building for a week in protest. We need to organize our funds to include more important causes such as the one that brings most of us here to the university, education.
