I would like to respond to John Keisling's column on the Normandy invasion (April 21). Mr. Keisling, I certainly appreciate you recognizing the servicemen who fought and died during Operation Overlord. My brother Mark, a U.S. Army Airborne Ranger, was killed in action during the December '89 invasion of Panama. As we observe the 50th anniversary of the D-Day invasion and the soldiers who fought at places like Omaha beach, let's not forget the brave young men who fought and died in less glorious battles in places like Korea, Vietnam and mostly recently Somalia. Theirs was a noble cause, too, and we shouldn't forget them either.
