An employee of the American Indian Studies Department called police Wednesday to report being threatened by the former advisor of the Native People United student group.
The employee told police he and the suspect, a professor in the American Indian Studies Department, attended a meeting earlier in the evening where the suspect made derogatory and insulting comments toward him.
The victim said after the meeting he was confronted by the suspect and his son, a UA student. He said the son made several threatening statements and said he was going to "kick his ass," and that he had killed people before. The employee said he took this to be a threat to his life.
The victim said he feels endangered and wants to press charges against the professor and his son. Police are investigating.

Police responded to a reported explosion near the Graham-Greenlee Residence Hall Saturday.
When police arrived they found a small tin "acetone" container smoldering in the street. A witness told police he was in the residence hall when he heard an explosion and then a car speed away. When he looked out the window he saw the can on fire and called police.
Police noted this explosion is similar to one that occurred last Tuesday near Hopi Lodge Residence Hall. Police have no suspects.

An 18-year-old student was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and minor operating a motor vehicle with alcohol in the body after police witnessed her driving erratically.
Police stopped Patricia Schmidt, of the 900 block of North Euclid Avenue, after they saw her drive north on North Park Avenue past East Sixth Street ignoring the traffic median that allows only a right hand turn.
Police said Schmidt voluntarily told them she had been drinking earlier at a local bar and later at a friend's house. She was then arrested for minor operating a motor vehicle with alcohol in the body and later for DUI after a Breathalizer test showed her alcohol level to be above .10, the legal limit.
Police cited Schmidt and returned her to her residence.
