Second-half shooting woes costly in UA loss

The Arizona women's basketball team shot 56 percent from the floor in the first half of its game against Oregon Saturday night, but still lost to the Ducks 73-55 before a crowd of 2,073 at McArthur Court in Eugene, Ore.

Despite the Wildcats' early shooting spree, Oregon (15-8 overall, 8-6 in the Pacific 10 Conference) had a 39-32 halftime advantage and went on to shoot 52 percent from the field in the second while limiting the UA to only 30 percent.

The victory marked the first time in over a month that Oregon posted consecutive wins and avenged last month's 78-74 setback at Arizona to remain one-half game behind Southern Cal for fourth place in the conference standings.

Arizona (10-17, 5-10) was paced by junior transfer Atina Harris, who scored 12 points and dished out four assists, and freshman forward Michelle Giordano, who pitched in nine points and two rebounds.
