Police were called to Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., early Monday morning to respond to a report of a student who overdosed on hallucinogenic mushrooms.

When police arrived they said the 19-year-old student was agitated and breathing very fast. She was lying on a bed and refused to talk to police.

The student's friend, who called police, said they had driven back from Phoenix late Sunday night and believed she ate the mushrooms during the ride to Tucson. He said he did not know how many mushrooms she had eaten but that they had bought them from an unknown man at a rest stop.

The student was taken to University Medical Center for treatment.
