Police arrested a 32-year-old man Sunday for shoplifting a book from the ASUA Bookstore.
Yan I. Gimelfarb, of the 5600 block of East Edison Street, was detained by bookstore employees after they saw him slip a book into the front of his pants. The employees then left Gimelfarb alone in a room until police arrived. Police were initially unable to locate the book which was later found on the roof directly below the room.
Gimelfarb was cited and released.

A man reported his backpack, with contents valued at $770, was stolen Monday from the south side of the Administration building.
The victim told police he was sitting on the grass at noon reading a book with the backpack next to him.
When he got up to leave at 12:30 p.m. he discovered the backpack missing.

University of Arizona Police Department assisted the Tucson Police Department in investigating a report of a car being stolen early Tuesday morning from the area of East Fourth Street and North Tyndall Avenue.
When police arrived they saw a man yelling, "Get out of the car," into the window of a parked car covered by a tarpaulin.
The man told police he saw someone go into the car and called 911. Officers found a man asleep in the car.
After investigation it was revealed the man owns the vehicle and uses it to sleep in.

A UA administrative assistant reported electronic equipment, including a black RCA video cassette recorder, had been stolen from Room 106 of the Student Union over the weekend. The value of the equipment was unknown.
Police found no sign of forced entry. They were able to collect fingerprints believed to be the suspect's.
The administrative assistant said that several employees besides herself have access to the room.

A table and chair set valued at $465 was stolen over the weekend from the Student Recreation Center, 1400 E. Sixth St.
The furniture was taken from the southwest second floor balcony. Police believe it was dropped or lowered over the balcony rail because paint chips were missing from the rail.

A $3,000 bicycle was stolen between 5:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Monday from the Student Recreation Center.
The owner told police he locked the orange and pink 52 centimeter Serrotta Colorado 14-speed racing bicycle with a Kryptonite cable lock to a rack on the west side of the building. When he returned the bicycle and its lock were missing.
