The UA men's tennis team traveled to Los Angeles over spring break to play two important dual matches against USC and UCLA.
The Wildcats, who were defeated by the No. 7 Trojans 7-0 earlier this season, lost to USC 5-1 Friday.
No. 1 UA singles player Jan Anderson was back in action for the first time since recovering from the chicken pox. He was defeated by the fourth-ranked singles player in the country, Brett Hanson, 7-5, 7-5 in a long, grueling match. Anderson now has an overall record of 23-10 (5-2 in the Pacific 10 Conference Southern Division) in dual match play.
Arizona's lone point of the match came from Ed Schwartz, who beat Fernando Samoya 6-2, 6-1 to improve his record to 12-7 (7-3) in dual matches.
Roland Kupka, who was among the starting six for the first half of the season, did not play in the dual match against the Trojans.
Jack Enfield played the No. 6 spot and was beaten by Kyle Spencer 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.
The 16th-ranked Wildcats record now stands at 4-6 overall (0-3).
The results for Arizona's match with UCLA Saturday were not available at press time.
