The UA men's tennis team will be on the road this weekend as the season hits what is not only the halfway point, but a crucial one as well.
The Wildcats (3-3 overall) will try their luck at winning the annual HEB Invitational, held in Corpus Christi, Texas, March 3-5.
Arizona reached the quarterfinals at last year's invitational.
The Wildcats beat Washington last Saturday to break a three-match losing streak, and hope to continue their winning streak in Texas.
The Wildcats will get plenty of dual matches in, as 16 teams will compete in the invitational. Of the 16 teams in the competition, 12 of them are ranked in the top 50 in the country. No. 8 Texas Christian is the highest-ranked team and the UA is the fifth-highest ranked team, at 33rd. Of all the 16 teams the only Pac-10 contender is Arizona.
The Wildcats came out with a winning record last year (2-1) beating Michigan State 4-1, losing to Boise State 3-4 and winning against Northwestern 6-1.
Jan Anderson, who upped his record to 23-9 (5-1 in dual match play) with two wins this past weekend, will not be making the trip to Texas because of illness.
At the time of departure, Arizona's No. 1 player was not determined.
The Wildcats making the trip to Corpus Christi are Chris Jenkins, Roland Kupka, Sten Sumberg, Edward Schwartz, James Rey, Jack Enfield, Mark Jariabka and Vuk Tapuskovic. Out of the eight players going, two have winning records.
The Wildcats will return home for six home matches April 6.
