March, gospel program among MLK Day events

Several events are planned this week for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

An open house will be held today at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Building from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Segments of King's "I Have a Dream" speech will be posted throughout the building and a reception will be held in the MLK Student Center.

A gospel program will be held tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. in Social Sciences Room 100.

On Friday, students and administrators are invited to attend a gathering on the University of Arizona Mall beginning at noon. Speakers such as UA President Manuel Pacheco and Associated Students President Rhonda Wilson will discuss King's life and accomplishments.

The City of Tucson and the MLK Celebration Committee will sponsor a march on Monday, beginning at 8 a.m. on the UA Mall. After a brief presentation, participants will march from Old Main to Reid Park.
