In columns, ignorance runs rampant

To the Editor:

I am writing this in response to [Ezekiel Buchheit's] oh-so-clever article on "Frats" ("Frats: What is and should never be," Mar. 30). But before I begin, may I refer to you as "Zeke" or "Buchheit"? After all, I wouldn't be a "Frat" guy without calling you by a last name or some witty nickname. As you probably will figure out, I am that "Frat" guy your friends, parents and, most likely, Yoshua have warned you about. I am writing this not in disgust of your brilliant article on "Frats," but in support of your fantastic ignorance. The same ignorance that the brainchild Eric Clingan expressed about skateboarders ("Skateboarders tear up the university," Feb. 25)

Each person is unique and has different views on life. It is the responsibility of myself and others to realize this individuality that makes up this great big place called Earth and respect those individuals' choices. Now, I realize you've only met eight "Frat" guys, but, hey, that is way more than enough to discredit the whole institution. Maybe if you were lucky, you may have met the "Mr. Satan" himself, the one who has bred all of us children with "impure blood." I think that would be a story that even you could tell your friends, family and Yoshua.

Look, I am tolerant of your expressions of individuality however ignorant they may be. You are free to see my "Frat" counterparts and me in whatever light you choose, but ignorance is never cool, especially for a nice liberal like yourself. So I'll go back to my sheep in the basement, not goats, and I hope you continue to enjoy your biscuits.
