University of bad roads

To the Editor:

For the past couple of months I have been cycling to work and on my way I ride across the UA Mall. When I first came across it, I thought the bad road surface, particularly on the eastern half, would be a temporary situation. Surely, with all the building work going on on campus, at some point they must come to put a new surface there.

Well, that has not happened yet. I am sure I am not the only cyclist literally feeling the bad effects of the quality of the mall cycling lanes. But maybe I am the first one to write about and complain about it in public.

It is about time we got a new, smooth roadsurface on the UA mall. Not only would that make riding the bike more enjoyable, but also more safe. I only hope that with the Nike deal going through, this does not mean we'll all have to wear Nike gear in order to ride it.
