Arizona gets verbal commitment from Wilson

Arizona got a verbal commitment yesterday from Traves Wilson, a 6-foot-3 guard from Moline, Ill.

Wilson's decision came after Monday's in-home visit from Arizona head coach Lute Olson.

"I'll sign a letter of intent at 8 a.m., Nov. 12 at Moline High School," Wilson told the Moline Dispatch..

Wilson canceled his visit to Colorado and turned down Indiana and Washington State.

Verbal commitments are non-binding and Arizona coaches are forbidden by NCAA rules from commenting on recruits until the official signing day on Nov. 12.

Arizona center A.J. Bramlett, who will be a senior when Wilson could join the team for the 1998-99 season, said he was particularly impressed with Wilson's physical style of play.

"He's a real powerful player," Bramlett said. "He's tough and he's a good rebounder."

Wilson averaged 17 points and eight rebounds during his junior campaign at Moline.
