Student services temporarily shift to CCIT

Until Jan. 23, drop-adds, enrollment verifications, class schedule printouts, address corrections will be handled at the Student Service Center in the Center for Computing and Information Technology Room 236.

The service center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Late registration petitions will be processed at the center Jan 23.

"The move gives us more space to handle the amount of students coming in," said Associate Registrar Judy Mobasseri. "Generally, students are better served by the switch even though the re-routing is a small inconvenience."

Transcript requests remain a responsibility of the staff in Administration Room 210.

Members of the Total Equality Management Initiative, a University of Arizona committee that tries to improve student services, suggested the shuffle in the fall of 1992 at the same time the Bursar's Office, the Office of Student Financial Aid and the Registrar's Office moved into the first floor of the Administration building.

Although Mobasseri frequently directs the occasional student to the appropriate location, she said she believes most continuing students reach the bureaucratic destination because of experience.

"It's a lot faster at the Student Service Center, because they split it up into graduate and undergraduate lines," said Steve Ozuna, a second-year environmental science graduate student. He waited in line at the Registrar's Office for 10 minutes yesterday morning.

Registrar's services return to Administration Room 210 at 8 a.m. on Jan. 26.
