Eat to the Beat brings you tasty musical treats to complement your lunch today in the Cellar. Another Epedimic will grace the short stage from 11:45 a.m. till 12:45 p.m. Call Jake McLaughlin at 621-1111 for more info.

It probably won't help you on your next flight, but it could help you pass your next math exam. It's the Program in Applied Mathematics PDE Seminar! Be in Room 402 of the Mathematics building today at 12:30 p.m. to hear Jack Xin explain the "Motion Law of Ginzburg-Landau Vortices on the Plane." Any pre-lecture questions can be directed to Kathleen Leick at 621-2016.

The subject of this afternoon's Renewable Natural Resources Seminar is "Using Higher Education Research to Enhance Teaching and Learning." Pardon my simple mind, but what else would we use it for? Anyway, it's taking place in Room 225 of the Biological Sciences East building. Guy R. McPherson , associate professor of RNR, will unveil his plans at 3 p.m. Contact the Renewable Natural Resources Department at 621-7255 for more information.

When the only perception you have of the Nobel Peace Prize winners comes from newspaper stories, your opinion of these people may be that they are just super busy super geniuses who have time for anything but their work. Au contraire! We, as a campus community, are lucky enough to boast the presence of one such humanitarian. Rigoberta Menchu Tum has taken a bit of time out of her packed schedule to speak to UA students about her work in the field of human rights, peace and indigenous peoples. Take your cushy seat in Gallagher Theatre at 4 p.m., and don't forget your UA ID. The Latin American Studies Department has details at 626-7242, ask for Rigoberta Menchu Tum.

The boys in red and blue are ready to hit the court as the boys in red vs. the boys in blue. The Arizona Men's Basketball season begins tonight at 7:30 with the Red-Blue Exhibition game. A pre-game tailgate party, free Bruegger's Bagels and complimentary Pepsi One will be available to all who purchase a $3 ticket. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. in McKale Center - stick around at halftime for your chance to compete in the Campus Rec Hot Shot Contest. You could be the winner of UCLA tickets, so it's worth a shot (horrible pun intended). Get your general admission-only ticket at the McKale Ticket Office by calling 621-2287.

The Films Committee of the University Activities Board is rip-roarin' to go with their next set of films for the Cellar Series. Check out Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita in the classic "young punk from New Jersey meets wise karate sensei" plot in the "Karate Kid" tonight at 7:30. Richard Busch can tell you more at 621-0768.

I'm sure we've all, at one paranoid moment or another, felt as thought we were being watched. Luckily for us, we can usually shake the creeps. Unluckily for Jim Carrey, his worries are reality. Spy upon Jim Carrey being spied upon tonight at Gallagher Theatre - "The Truman Show" plays at 7:30 p.m. and 9:35 p.m. Admission is $2.50. Call the soon-to-be-defunct moviehouse at 621-4678 for further information.
