First the squirrels, now the cocks

To the editor,

As far as your Mt. Graham story goes Nov. 5 Wildcat, it does not surprise me to see the new strategy environmentalists (socialists) are using in an attempt to stop the Mt. Graham telescope project.

They lost the argument about the telescopes hurting the "Endangered Mt. Graham" Red Squirrels since the squirrels are now somehow flourishing in the presence of the scopes. Now they are using this misguided Italian labor union to do their dirty work and attack capitalism (what argument next "the children?"). The truth is, these telescopes are needed and they will be built regardless of the availability of money and parts from Italy. Now on to cockfighting (letter to the editor - same issue). As a source of cheap food, Sheriff Joe Arpaio is now soliciting the roosters people are going to kill to avoid becoming criminals of the state.

Interestingly, I heard some talk of chicken owners injecting their hens with male hormones in order to make them aggressive so they will fight.

This does not violate the letter of the law. In an effort to save tens of thousands of roosters in Arizona, I have a question for members of pre-veterinary honorary.

Technically speaking, are castrated roosters cocks at all?
