Arizona Summer Wildcat

University police responded to a call from the Poison Control Center - 1501 N. Campbell Rd. - on Tuesday requesting the removal of an agitated man who was being loud and disruptive.

The man had called the center twice that day asking for information about medications he was taking. Both times people at the center gave him all the information they could supply.

They then asked him not to call the center again unless it was an emergency. At about 12:15 p.m., the suspect arrived at the center inquiring about the same medications he called about earlier, reports stated.

The suspect, who said that he has a mental condition, was wanting information about a prescription he was given to treat it, reports stated.

A staff member then gave him the information for the third time that day and told him to leave the center, since it is not open to the public.

The man then became upset and loud and the police were called.

When the officer arrived he asked the suspect why he was causing a disturbance and why he repeatedly called the center.

The man claimed that he didn't provoke anyone at the center and that he didn't call earlier. He also said he didn't understand why the center wouldn't give him the information he asked for, reports stated.

The officer then had the suspect agree to not call the center unless he had an emergency, but the suspect then said he would call if he had a question concerning a drug or medication he was taking.

The officer then warned him that the center did not want him to call or go there again and if he did he could be charged with trespassing.

After saying he understood, the suspect left the building. The center may seek a restraining order against the man, who has a six year history of calling the center.

The suspect asks for more information than the center's staff can supply. He is said to have been threatening to members of the staff on more than one occasion, and is more so to the female staff members, reports stated.

UAPD took a report concerning a stolen planner from La Paz Residence Hall - 602 N. Highland Ave. - on Tuesday.

The planner - containing $80 in $20 denominations, a driver's license, a Cat Card and phone cards - was stolen on July 27.

When the owner of the planner fell asleep at about 4:30 p.m. the day of the theft, her roommate was there at first but left shortly after, reports stated.

Their door was also left slightly open.

By 5:30 p.m. the owner had woken up and found that her planner was missing.

Rumors were spreading in La Paz that another of the residents was low on money and complaining that her mother was not going to supply her anymore for the rest of the summer, reports stated.

The day after the planner was stolen, people saw her making purchases with $20 denominations.

The suspect denied taking the planner and said the $20 bills came from an Automated Teller withdrawal and that other purchases were made with a credit card.

She added that her mother had deposited money in her account.

When an officer asked the suspect to produce receipts, she was unable to, explaining that she threw away the ATM withdrawal transaction slip. She said she would look for the other receipts.

There are no other suspects and the UAPD determined that no follow up is needed.

UAPD arrested a man following a minor traffic accident for having two misdemeanor criminal warrants out for his arrest.

Jason Gillis, 22, of 8308 E. Stella Rd., had two Tucson Police Department warrants out for possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license.

On Wednesday, officers responded to a traffic accident at First Street and Martin Avenue.

After a record check of Gillis, university police told him he was under arrest for the outstanding warrants.

He was handcuffed, searched and transported to Pima County Jail.
