Nationwide grant is awarded to UA's OASIS
[news] The UA OASIS Center received one of 21 grants awarded by the U.S. Department of Justice to secondary education institutions to address sexual harassment issues on campus. Arizona self destructs, again
[news]
The Arizona Wildcats should feel lucky to still be standing. After all, they shot themselves in the foot so many times in Saturday afternoon's 33-25 loss to Washington (6-3 overall, 5-1 Pacific 10 Conference) they're lucky there was anything left. Editorial: Shepard's killers deserve death penalty
[news] Once again, the American court system, where justice is always supposed to prevail, allowed a horrible injustice to occur. Aaron McKinney, 22, escaped the death penalty on Thursday after agreeing to spend the remainder of his life in prison for the savage murder of Matthew Shepard, 21, a University of Wyoming student. McKinney and his 22-year-old cohort Russell Henderson lured Shepard out of a bar in Laramie, Wyo., robbed him of $20, tied him to a fence and beat him on the head with a pistol until he was comatose. The blows were so severe that Shepard's skull cracked.

[news]
UA alumni were exposed on Saturday to a spirited parade, an eclectic mix of organizations and the estradiol effects on acetylcholine output in the hippocampus during spatial learning in female rats. That last one came courtesy of Lisa Marriott, a graduate student, who won first prize in the graduate life sciences category at the University of Arizona's Student Showcase 1999 for her project. Student Showcase, now in its seventh year, gives undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to exhibit their works to the public.
