Date auction held at fraternity house benefits Bobbi Olson Memorial Fund

Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity members were told to "take it off" last night at their first annual date auction to raise money for the Bobbi Olson Memorial Fund.

"I just broke up with my boyfriend," said Courtney Stevens, an elementary education sophomore. "I want to make him jealous. But it's for a good cause."

Pike auctioned off dates with 29 of its members to an enthusiastic, cheering crowd of more than 200 people. Some members also chose to strip to raise the amount of the bids, which totaled $2,500.

"Come on, ladies, it's for a good cause!" exclaimed Scott Coffey, the emcee for the event.

Crunch time looms to sculpt Spring Break-ready bodies

2 weeks not enough time for the 'perfect' form, fitness experts say

Ashley Meredith is sweating her Spring Break plans - literally.

"I only have two weeks until I go to Rocky Point, so I'm trying to work out as much as possible until then so I can feel comfortable in a bathing suit," said Meredith, a psychology freshman.

Meredith isn't the only student at the University of Arizona worrying about shedding clothes and exposing pale, winter flesh to the bright sun and sandy beaches of popular Spring Break destinations.

Laxcats lose Arizona Stadium game

Matchup with ASU marred by schedule flaw

Feb. 24 was a date that every member of the Arizona Lacrosse team had marked on their calendars. It was going to be a chance to play in Arizona Stadium in front of a larger crowd, most of whom would be parents visiting for the team's annual family weekend.

So much for planning. The Laxcats will not step foot on the turf at Arizona Stadium this weekend while UA officials install a new irrigation system.

Survey says...UA campus is squeaky clean

In its continuing quest to edify the student body, Campus Health has put out a series of flyers that are visible in ads here in the Wildcat, and on various places around campus. These ads encourage us to act like good citizens, and not drink too much or smoke. They use numbers to support their claims, and it's really too bad that we don't have the original data presented for our edification.

"Sixty-four percent of UA students have four drinks or less when they party," one ad says.

Thus, 36 percent of them can't remember how much they had to drink last time they partied.

Flogging fishies and Cheez Whiz pies

Earlier this month, the comedy group Charles Darwn Experience (CDE) found out it has a secret admirer.

An anonymous letter - along with $250 - was dropped in the donations jar at a recent CDE performance. The letter read:

"To the cast of CDE - Your shows have provided me with several years of laughter and happiness. I've been to several professional shows, none of which can compare. This money doesn't even come close to how much I would have paid if you charged similarly. Please do not attempt to return this gift. Enjoy Chicago!"
