Although you may have seen her face on sympathizers' buttons, the shocking story of the captured journalist will be told at today's Latin American Studies lecture with Rhoda Berenson. This distraught mother will tell the emotional tale of "Lori: My Daughter Wrongfully Imprisoned in Peru" at 1:15 p.m. in the Franklin Building basement. Berenson's 30-year-old, journalist daughter, Lori, is being held against her will as a political prisoner. For more information on this presentation, please call Kelly Merriam at 626-7242.

While Shakespeare may have had good intentions when he put the quill to the paper, you may find yourself reaching for your Cliff's Notes when the cast of King Lear takes the stage in the Fine Arts Complex today at 1:30 p.m. For a behind-the-scenes look, check out the pre-show discussion

with the actors in Directing Studio 116. This session will address some of the complicated issues in the production, including Lear's descent from sanity and power. For ticket information on this show or for future ticket information, please call the Fine Arts Box Office at 621-1162.

The words of Melville's "Moby Dick" will fill the UA Mall for 24 hours, beginning today at 2 p.m. The Department of English is sponsoring a marathon reading of the novel and invites you to sign up for 5-10 minute segments. Bring your jackets, sleeping bags and flashlights because the story will be read in its entirety throughout the night. Any comments, questions or concerns should be addressed to Mandy Siegel at asiegel@u.arizona.edu.

With racial profiling stealing headlines and students screaming about police brutality, the Tucson Police Department and Border Patrol bring the controversial issue of police policies and activities to the table today in the College of Law, Room 106. Officers will address issues and invite the audience to ask questions from the law-enforcement panel. The discussion begins at 2:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. For more information on this informational session, please call 791-4450.

Do you love going to the theater but find yourself losing patience for the drawn-out scenes often found in full-length productions? If your attention span is about as long as the walk across the Mall, check out tonight's UA One-Act Play Festival in the Marroney Theatre at 7:30. The show features student directed one-acts, including "The Role of Della" and "Tom and Jerry." For more information on this production, please call the UA Fine Arts Box Office at 621-1162.
