We know we're overdoing the Fourth of July thing here, so don't get on our butts - instead, head out to the Tucson Raceway Park, 12500 S. Houghton Road, tonight for a fireworks show as well as the opportunity to see drag cars, NASCAR limited late models, mighty compacts and factory stocks race. Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, and free for kids under 11.

If racing isn't your bag (but gambling is), cruise on over to Casino of the Sun, 7406 S. Camino de Oeste, tonight at 8 to catch a free fireworks display. Gambling is tempting but optional. Call 883-1700 for more information.

Wednesday July 4

If you haven't already gotten your fill of dangerous explosives, then the Tucson Convention Center, 260 S. Sixth Ave., is your place to be. Celebrate the Fourth of July at the TCC starting at 4 p.m. with a free concert in the Music Hall. Get your fill of food, drink and song from 4 to 9 p.m. outside. Finally, catch "A" Mountain's "Fire in the Sky" fireworks starting at 9. Call 791-4101 for more information.

Only one more, we promise - Tucson Electric Park, 2500 E. Ajo Way, is sponsoring a variety of bands as well as fireworks starting at 4:15 p.m. Musical guests BTO begins the festivities followed by Eddie Money and Kansas. Fireworks will start directly after at 9 p.m. Doors open at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and free for children 10 and under. $5-off coupons can be picked up at all Super K-Mart locations. To purchase tickets, call 887-1000 or stop by the park.

If by now you are completely anti-Fourth of July, check out The Reverend Horton Heat tonight at 8 the Rialto Theatre, 318 E. Congress St., with special guests Bare Jr. and Paladins. Tickets are $15 in advance at all Ticketmaster locations and Zia stores. Call 798-3333 for more information.

Fourth Ave., tonight at 7 to see Poteat, winner of the UA Poetry Center's 2001 Summer Residency Program, read from his works as well as those of local poet Richard Siken. It's Saturday morning - get your head out of the toilet and get over to the Arizona Historical Society Museum, 949 E. Second St., today between 9 a.m. to noon to participate in a series of narrated bus tours that start and end in front of the museum. Sites along the tour include "A" Mountain, the Convento site, downtown Tucson, Barrio Viejo, "Snob Hollow," the Presidio and Rio Nuevo, among others. If you're oot and aboot tonight you should head over to Solar Culture, 33 E. Toole Ave., tonight to see The Sadies, a country-rock band out of Ontario, Canada.
