School making you a little tense? Now you have a new, more effective way of relieving that stress than alcohol. Hatha and pranayama yoga classes can help you unwind after a long day of school. Certified yoga instructor Patti Hartmann will teach you how body posture and breathing techniques can help ease tension. Practicing yoga on a regular basis is proven to help fight asthma, improve inner tranquillity and increase mental alertness. The weekly classes last for 12 weeks and cost $50. UA Presents kicks off a new season with a performance by The Kirov Orchestra. In less than a decade, Russia's legendary Kirov Orchestra has emerged as one of the world's greatest symphonies under the direction of conductor Valery Gergiev. Gergiev has been praised internationally for his bold interpretations of Russia's greatest composers. Tickets can be purchased through the Centennial Hall box office and cost from $48 to $60. The box office number is 621-3341. Show time is 7:30, so get to Centennial Hall early to ensure you don't miss anything.

Remember the Speaker Series? Yeah, it's been a while, but it's starting up again. And Jeff Warburton, associate professor of theater arts, has the honor of taking the stage to welcome back another season. Warburton's agenda includes discusses theatrical lighting, a lecture entitled "Let There Be Light." The location has been moved again due to the massive campus construction, but the Marroney Theater will play host to the Speaker Series this semester. The lecture starts at 12:15 p.m. so come early to find yourself a comfy seat, and don't forget to pick up some lunch beforehand.

Don't you hate when you're working in a group and nobody can agree on anything? Well, there's a solution to that problem, and the Human Resources department will fill you in with their workshop "Reaching Results With Others." This program aims to teach you how to work collaboratively with your colleagues, new decision-making skills and strategies to reach an agreement. The workshop starts at 1 this afternoon and runs until 4:30 p.m. Swing by the University Services Building Room 216, or call 621-7701 for more details.

Last night's writing workshop on rhetorical analysis may not have covered what you were looking for, but you can't go wrong with "The Basics of Academic Writing." Kendra Gaines, patron saint of those without writing skills, will be on hand to help you improve your English and research papers, scrap the amateur words we all love to use and help you overcome writer's block.
