It's Friday and you deserve a break. Why not stop in to check out this week's Comedy Corner show? You're guaranteed at least a few laughs during your lunch hour, so what have you got to lose. The noon show will be held in the Cellar, as it is every week, so be sure to come down to the Student Union basement this afternoon. Call the UAB office at 621-0763 for more details.

Women's studies caught a lot flak last year from recently bumped legislator Jean McGrath, but now is their time to shine in the limelight. The department will be hosting a panel discussion and anniversary party to celebrate the history of the department. This event will launch a new plan of "Setting the Record: The Archival/Oral History Project on the History of Women's Studies." The forum will review "Generations of Women's Studies at the University of Arizona." The panel discussion begins at 3:30 this afternoon, while the soiree starts two-hours later. Come to the Swede Johnson Building Room 205 to join the festivities. Call Elizabeth Kennedy at 621-7338 to get the scoop on all the details.

Obsessively flip through fashion magazines checking out the latest fashions? Why not stop by the Center for Creative Photography today to celebrate the work of famed fashion photographer Louise Dahl-Wolfe, who has shot 86 cover images and thousands of photographs for Harper's Bazaar. Dahl-Wolfe also shot photos for Vogue and Sports Illustrated. The "Louise Dahl-Wolfe: The American Image" program starts at 5 this evening. Call the center at 621-7968 if you've got any questions.

The International Arts Society Film Series has some plans for you tonight. "The White Balloon" will be showing in the Modern Languages Auditorium tonight. This film showcases a 7-year-old girl's first journey alone along the streets of Tehran. During her adventures, she encounters snake charmers, irate shopkeepers and country-born soldiers. The screening starts at 7:30 p.m., so why don't you bypass the bars tonight for a glimpse into another culture. Call Charles Scruggs at 621-3527 for more information.

Spend your evening with a classic. "Cabaret" will be showing again tonight in Centennial Hall. This play features the life of a British journalist who falls in love with an American singer at Berlin's Kit Kat Club during the rise of the Nazi regime. It's rare to find such a great classic on campus, so be sure to catch John Kander's and Fred Ebb's production of this Academy-Award winning play. The show starts at 8 tonight, so call the Centennial Hall box office at 621-3341 to reserve your seat. Tickets cost between $38 and $50.
