When is the NCAA going to realize the BCS is a load of, well, - B.S.?
When the Bowl Championship Series rankings are released tonight during halftime of the Monday Night Football game there will most likely be a shocking disparity.
Oklahoma will surely stay atop the poll, as it should, but the No. 2 ranked team will most likely be - are you ready for this? - Florida State.
That's right, Florida State, the team that lost to the Miami Hurricanes a few weeks ago behind the inspired play of linebacker Dan Morgan.
Miami will likely remain in the fourth spot behind Nebraska.
Did I miss something this weekend?
Maybe I wasn't watching the Hurricanes dismantle No. 2 Virginia Tech, 41-21 at the Orange Bowl. Someone must have put hallucinogens in my Kellog's Frosted Flakes or severely spiked my milk.
With or without Michael Vick the Hokies were not going to win that game.
With the victory, Miami along with the Sooners this year, became only the second team in college football history to defeat a No. 1 and No. 2 ranked team in the same year.
That alone is deserving of the No. 2 spot in the BCS poll.
The BCS poll should be shelved in favor of a college football tournament. The top-16 teams in the country could emulate March Madness and a true champion would emerge.
Because who really wants David Rothman deciding the national champion?
Who is David Rothman you ask?
Well, he is one of the morons whose poll is used in deciding the rankings for the BCS poll.
Want to know how smart Rothman is?
Well, he had TCU, yes the Horned Frogs, rated as the No. 2 team in the country.
This computer geek's poll makes me want to puke.
Arizona could destroy TCU. Oh, but did I mention that TCU lost Saturday to mighty San Jose State, 27-24. Yeah, I bet SJSU would beat a lot of teams in the top-10 - of Division III.
So hey Rothman, go figure out some molecular formula or something but stay out of college football.
In fact every poll besides the USA Today/ESPN and AP have Florida State rated higher than Miami. Did the inventors of the BCS, I mean the NCAA, try and find the dumbest polls possible to conduct a ranking system.
I mean, the Seattle Times poll isn't biased is it?
Washington is really the No. 3 team in the country even though Arizona should have beat the Huskies Saturday and Oregon who they have at No. 6, kicked UW's ass early in the season.
This is really making me bitter, so here is an easy solution to this little problem.
Take the AP and USA Today/ESPN polls and find the average rankings of teams between the two polls. The top two teams go to the Orange Bowl and play for the national championship while everyone else can fight for the other bowls.
Simple.
So go to hell BCS and David Rothman.
