By staff and wire reports

The Arizona women's basketball was dominated by No. 5 Notre Dame last night in South Bend Ind.

The Wildcats (1-1), who trailed the Fighting Irish at halftime, 57-29, ended up losing to the Notre Dame (2-0) by a final score of 95-65. The Irish win was Notre Dame's 24th straight home victory.

The Irish charge was led by Alicia Ratay, who got Notre Dame out to an early lead, connecting on three consecutive baskets from behind the three- point arc to open the game. Ratay finished with a game-high 26 points along with five rebounds and five assists.

Notre Dame shot 62.3 percent from the field in the 30-point victory.

Arizona - who entered the game 1-0 after defeating Brigham Young this past Saturday at McKale Center - was led by sophomore guard Krista Warren, who finished with a team-high 13 points along with 8 rebounds.

Junior center Elizabeth Pickney added 10 points in the Wildcats' losing effort.

UA senior guard Reshea Bristol finished last night's game with a double- double, connecting for 12 points and 10 assists.

Despite going on a 23-10 run in the second half, the Wildcats could not close in on Notre Dame as Irish forward Kelley Siemon and center Ruth Riley seemed to dominate Wildcat defenders in the paint.

Riley finished the game with 17 points, seven rebounds, and four blocked shots.

Freshmen Aimee Grzyb and Veranda James combined 4-for-13 from the field after contributing a total of 23 points in this past Saturday's season opener against the Cougars. As a team, the Wildcats shot just 32.8 percent from the field.

Arizona, who has split the season's first two games, will return to action Sunday when they travel to Santa Barbara, Calif., to face UC-Santa Barbara.
