If you are a political activist or an environmental advocate looking to be more informed on issues relating to Tucson citizens, today's meeting on public land use fees may be just the thing for you. An open forum in Forbes 307 has been organized to raise public awareness on the use of demonstration fees in places such as the Catalina Highway and the Sabino Canyon. A panel discussion composed of various community members and local political figures will begin at 5:30 p.m., and everyone is welcome. If you have any questions regarding the forum, please contact Robb Hannawacker at 792-0970.

The Arizona Cancer Prevention and Control Program is searching for volunteers for a study on sun-damaged skin. With Mr. Sun spending most of his time behind the sky's clouds and the rain drowning out afternoon baseball games, most people aren't thinking about melanoma and other skin disorders. The UA research program is seeking men and women over the age of 18 to test the effectiveness of treatments on pre-cancerous, or Actinic Keratoses, sunspots. For a list of specific guidelines regarding case study volunteers please contact the Arizona Health Sciences Center at 321-7745.

The Center for Creative Photography is celebrating 25 years of art by sponsoring the Nagatani/Tracey Polaroid Collaboration. In honor of having 40 pieces of cross-cultural artwork from his collection on display, Patrick Nagatani is hosting a special gallery discussion at 5:30 p.m. He will discuss his projects and research with Japanese archaeologist Ryoichi as well as respond to questions and comments from the audience. If you have any questions regarding the Ryoichi/Nagatani Excavations or other pieces of artwork on display, please call CCP at 621-7968.

With temperatures rapidly decreasing outdoors, you may want to seek refuge in the heated Arizona Historical Society and view their current display of historical quilts. The ongoing exhibit showcases 12 quilts made between 1840 and 1940 including original designs by Cora Viola Slaughter, wife of the Cochise County Arizona Sheriff. New miniature versions mirrored after original block patterns and designs have been displayed alongside the antique blankets. The Arizona Historical Society is open from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. If you have any questions regarding the exhibit, please contact the main museum at 628-5774.
