Coming off two wins last week over Denver and Oregon State, two ranked teams, the UA gymnastics team will try to continue its winning ways when it travels to Los Angeles to take on UCLA and two other teams at the 34th Annual UCLA Invitational.
The Cats are set to meet the No. 1 Bruins as well as Washington and Cal State Fullerton.
The meet carries a lot of weight due to the fact that the Cats can bring home two Pacific 10 victories with the defeats.
The Bruins (8-1, 2-1 Pac-10) are going to be hard to beat in their own invitational, which they have won for 10 consecutive years.
"This weekend's meet is going to be a good test for us since we are coming off an important win last Friday," UA head coach Bill Ryden said in a press release.
Ryden said his team isn't intimidated by the Bruins' No. 1 rank.
"I'm confident that the team will do well," Ryden said. "We are competing very well as a unit, but we just have to keep improving week after week."
Wins over the nation's No. 20 and No. 24 team last Friday showed Ryden that UA is capable of competing with some of the nation's top teams.
"We are not even close to this team's potential," he said.
Senior Kara Fry and junior Randi Liljenquist both set personal bests last weekend and will attempt to repeat their successes against the Bruins.
