UA employees rally for raises at State Capitol

State, university officials say Legislature could resolve pay increases soon

PHOENIX - UA employees joined lawmakers and a crowd of about 500 other state employees outside the State Capitol yesterday in a rally to keep their raises.

Sixty-eight University of Arizona employees from Tucson and Phoenix traveled to the Capitol yesterday for a rally organized by Democratic House Minority Leader Ken Cheuvront. They heard speeches from 31 legislators.

Wildcats escape with win in physical battle.

There have been plenty of impressive comebacks in McKale Center this season.

Fortunately for Arizona, there wasn't one tonight. Arizona State's second-half rally from 18 down came up short as the Wildcats held off the Sun Devils, 83-75.

"(ASU) is tough," head coach Lute Olson said. "I've said it all along. They make it hard for you to do your stuff." [Read article]

Jews want to remember and remind

This is not an "organized letter-writing-campaign by a Jewish group" as Jeffrey R. Colson was anticipating in his Tuesday letter titled "Nazi Holocaust not the only holocaust in the 20th century," which is a response to a Feb. 12 article of a picture of a girl reading names of people who died in the Holocaust with a caption under it saying, "This girl is reading names of people who died in the Holocaust."
