A woman was arrested for theft and tried to spit on a police officer on March 11, reports stated.

At 12:45 p.m. police spoke with an employee who said he allowed the woman to get some water from the Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Blvd.

The employee told officers he saw the woman begin to pour coffee rather than water into her mug. He stopped her when the mug was half full, and asked her if she was going to pay for the coffee. The woman continued to fill up her mug until it was full, and then walked out of the student union.

The employee followed the woman outside, and asked her to pay for the coffee. She began cursing at him, and then threw the coffee from her mug at him. The employee said the coffee missed him, reports stated.

Police made contact with the woman at the intersection of East Speedway Boulevard and North Highland Avenue. She said a different union employee had allowed her to get coffee.

The reporting employee told officers he was with her the entire time, and that she was firmly told that she could only get water, reports stated.

The employee said he wanted to press charges for the theft. Officers then placed the woman under arrest for theft under $250.

While taking her to court, officers placed a spit hood over her head after she made an attempt to spit at an officer, reports stated.

The judge released her with four hours community service. The woman had property in an Osco shopping cart that was taken to the University of Arizona Police Department, and was later given to her at pre-trial services. The shopping cart was returned to the shopping center, reports stated.

A woman contacted police March 8 to report that a student had made harassing comments to her, reports stated.

The woman said on that March 6 at about 7 p.m. the student was in the Theater Arts building, 1030 N. Olive Road.

The student made sexually explicit comments at the woman and then touched her left breast, reports stated.

The woman pulled away, and told the student that what he did was not appropriate.

The woman told police other women in the photography department have had similar occurrences with the student.

Officer advised her to contact UAPD if he continued to harass her, reports stated.

An employee reported a black rubber mat had been burned while inside a horse's stall on March 9, reports stated.

The employee said the mat was burned some time between March 7 at 2:30 a.m. and March 8 at 6 a.m. She said an individual might have dropped something through a closed but unlatched window on the south side of the Equine Complex, 4101 N. Campbell Ave.

She told police she smelled burning rubber, but could not locate the exact area until she was inside the complex. She found the rubber mat directly under the window smoldering in an occupied horse stall.

The employee removed the mat and doused it with water.

Police saw several burn marks on the mat within a 10-inch area. Officers did not see any possible modes of ignition inside or outside the stall, reports stated.

A student reported March 8 that his license, CatCard and several keys were stolen while he was playing basketball, reports stated.

On March 5 at 4:30 p.m., the student left the items on the west side of the basketball court at the Student Recreation Center, 1400 E. Sixth St., while he played basketball.

About 20 minutes later, he noticed the items were missing. He waited several days before reporting the incident, because he thought the items might be turned in to the facility's lost and found.

The student believes since his property was not turned in, that it must have been stolen.

There are no suspects or witnesses at this time, reports stated.
