An employee was cited for shoplifting Thursday when he tried to steal two CDs from the UofA Bookstore, 1209 E. University Blvd., reports stated.

A bookstore security guard recognized the 18-year-old employee as the same man who tried to steal CDs earlier in the year. She followed the man toward the exit after he slipped two discs up his shirt and walked toward the door, reports stated.

The security guard detained the employee until police arrived.

He told officers, "I took the CDs because I can't afford them," reports stated.

The employee was cited and released on suspicion of shoplifting. He was told not to return to the store or he would face charges of trespassing.

A sex offender was told to leave a campus residence hall Sunday, reports stated.

The front desk employee at Arizona-Sonora Residence Hall, 910 E. Fifth St., called officers when he noticed that a suspicious man was drinking beers in front of the hall at 3:36 p.m.

Police spoke to the 54-year-old Tucson man, who was drinking an amber-colored liquid from a plastic cup. Officers also noticed that the man had an odor of alcohol coming from his breath and that there were several empty and full beer bottles near his feet.

The man identified himself and officers ran a background check on him. The Tucsonan had no warrants issued for his arrest but was registered as a sex offender, reports stated.

The man was warned about drinking alcohol in public and trespassing on the UA campus. The beers were emptied and thrown out before the man left the scene, reports stated.

Three students were found drinking, Friday, in a residence-hall room, reports stated.

A resident assistant at La Paz Residence Hall, 602 N. Highland Ave., told officers she believed some residents were drinking alcohol in a first-floor room.

Officers heard loud music and voices when they approached and knocked on the door of the room. The 18-year-old resident opened the door and then quickly turned off the lights when he realized police were outside. Officers reached inside the room and turned the lights back on, reports stated.

They saw three men, ranging in age from 18 to 19 years old, and some empty beer cans. The officers were given permission to enter the room and spoke with all of the students.

Police found approximately 40 beer cans in the room and inside the refrigerator. Each of the beers was marked with one of the students' initials, reports stated.

"It's so our beer won't get mixed up, and we'll know who has what," one resident told officers, reports stated.

All three men admitted to possessing some of the beers, but none of them was willing to tell officers who bought the beer for them.

Police noticed that the men were laughing and seemed amused throughout the incident.

The students were cited and released on suspicion of being minors in possession of alcohol. Police said they couldn't divert the students because two of the three men had already been through the diversion program.

A student was taken to the hospital Sunday after suffering a possible allergic reaction when he combined marijuana and alcohol, reports stated.

The student's roommate told officers that the man was taking a shower in the men's bathroom inside the La Paz Residence Hall, 602 N. Highland Ave. Officers saw that the male was soaking wet in the shower and was clothed but not wearing shoes or a shirt, reports stated.

The student told police he had taken about five hits of marijuana at a campus-area park and drank a shot of "very strong alcohol," reports stated.

The Tucson Fire Department arrived at the scene and examined the 19-year-old. He told them he had numbness and pains in his left arm, a symptom of cardio-vascular complications, reports stated.

He was taken to the University Medical Center by Southwest Ambulance Company and later treated by UMC staff, reports stated.

Police went to the hospital and cited and released the man on suspicion of being a minor in possession of alcohol, reports stated.
