Viewpoints: Our Tragedy

By Marianne Green
ARIZONA DAILY WILDCAT

Wednesday September 19, 2001

Last week's terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, which killed an estimated 5,000 people to date, have had emotional effects on people across the nation. The Wildcat asked some students how they are venting their emotions about the tragedy.

"The most important thing to do is just to get on with our lives. The only satisfaction (the terrorists) will get is putting our daily routines on hold."

- Justin Holt, pharmacy graduate student

"I'm just trying to stay focused in my studies and my music. My music helps me focus my attention away from it all."

- Geoff Thames, music education junior

"I am trying to hang out with my friends here and not talk about it."

- Jon Blake, business sophomore

"Coming back to campus, a place I am familiar with, and seeing my old friends has helped a lot."

- Anna Hetsler, alumna

"I am relying on God and taking it one day at a time."

- Alicia Peterson, liberal arts freshman
