Take one step back in time and explore Arizona's past at the Arizona Historical
Society Museum, 949 E. Second St. The current display, "Dueling Eagles: The
U.S. War with Mexico," delves into the social, political and economic forces behind America's conflicts with Mexico. The exhibit combines art and literature in order to provide an authentic view of the past. Admission is free. For more information on other exhibits or museum hours, call 628-5774.
Need a break from ringing phones, beeping fax machines and temperamental laptops? For a quiet night of exploration, join fellow Tucsonans for a weekly Wednesday night hike at Sabino Canyon. "Sabino Starry Night" allows hikers to look inwards and reconnect with nature. The 7.5 mile round-trip hike is sponsored by the Sierra Club of Tucson. For more information on this or other ways to get back to reality through nature, call 577-2444.
Grab a friend and explore your past at today's "Rare Glimpses" presentation at the Arizona State Museum, located on the UA campus. Lectures will be held from 7-9 p.m., and topics will vary. For $25, you will gain access to the most private collections at the museum. You have seen the large displays at the Center for Creative Photography; now take a moment to appreciate the smaller things in life. The gallery is currently displaying three exhibits in addition to the highly publicized "Indivisible: Stories of American Community." Learn more than Spanish culture at the "Jean Laurent's Nineteenth-Century Spain: Selections from the Collection" in the CCP print viewing gallery. If history is not your cup of tea, try "Classic and Contemporary" or Danny Lyon and Dan Weiner's selection of civil rights photography exhibit on the second floor. For more information on gallery hours and displays, call 621-7968.
