A reported $30,000 was stolen from an ATM located on campus Tuesday morning, UAPD officials said.
Cmdr. Brian Seastone of the University of Arizona Police Department said the ATM was broken into at 11:40 a.m.
"We know it was broken into, but there are no signs of physical damage," he said.
The National Bank of Arizona called UAPD after the machine in Park Student Union, 601 N. Park Ave., reportedly started sending a signal indicating unauthorized personnel had tampered with the ATM.
Sgt. Rolf Averill, a UAPD detective on the case, said finding the suspect depends on those who saw it.
He said although there are leads, there is still no suspect.
"There wasn't a camera installed in the machine," Averill said. "We do know at (that) time of the day, there were several people walking around that area."
"Whatever they saw might not have seemed significant, but it's significant to us."
A sign on the side of the machine stated "(A) reward of $500 is being offered to anyone with information leading to the apprehension of the suspect."
"The person may have been wearing a uniform, but we don't know," Averil said. "That's why we need anyone who saw anything to call us."
Officials said anyone with information relating to the theft should call Sgt. Averill of the UAPD at 621-3753 or 621-UAPD.
