The roommate of UA freshman tailback Tremaine Cox reported to police Monday that Cox used his debit card to purchase pornographic material on the Internet, UAPD reports stated.
Ricardo Hernandez, a junior political science major, told the University of Arizona Police Department that Cox used his debit card without his permission and bought access to a pornographic Web site.
He didn't want to press charges at the time and will only press charges if any other purchases are made in the future, police reports stated.
UA head football coach John Mackovic said he is aware of the incident and has discussed it with both Cox and Cox's family, but that no disciplinary action will be taken against him.
Cox said the situation is now resolved.
"We just had a misunderstanding," Cox said. "It was just a case of mixed information, and it's all settled now."
Hernandez reported that on Sept. 16, Cox made the purchase on his debit card while Hernandez was sleeping.
Hernandez wrote Cox a letter asking him if he knew anything about the charge. Cox replied and denied having anything to do with it, reports stated.
Hernandez called Cox's parents about the incident. A few days later, Cox wrote Hernandez saying that he did purchase the Web site access and that he would pay him back.
However, a second purchase was made with the same debit card to purchase access on another Web site, reports stated.
Though they are roommates, the two have not yet had the chance to talk about the incident.
Hernandez wanted the police report given to the Department of Residence Life because he wanted to initiate a room change, reports stated. The two live in Palm Shadows Apartments, 1815 E. Speedway Blvd.
Cox is the Wildcats' back-up running back and has 180 yards on 28 carries and two touchdowns this season.
