Tonight
Let the classical sounds of the Gewandhaus Orchestra of Leipzig, Germany, sooth your soul and give you a relaxing end to a long week. One of the most revered orchestras in the world, Gewandhaus dates back more than 250 years. Tonight's performance at 8 will feature Beethoven's 3rd Symphony "Eroica" and Brahms' "Violin Concerto in D Major". Tickets for the Centennial Hall concert range from $48 to $60. To purchase tickets or reserve seats, call the Centennial Hall box office at 621-3341.
"The Postman Always Rings Twice" scared audiences with its literary depth and linguistic creativity. Watch as the words of the 1934 tabloid thriller take shape on the Modern Languages auditorium screen in tonight's presentation of "Ossessione." This Italian adaptation of James M. Cain's novel was the first in a series of replicated film versions of the book. The International Arts Society film selection begins at 7:30 p.m., and is free. For more information on other screenings, call Charles Scruggs at 621-3527.
