Are you waiting for the perfect opportunity to make your mark on the world? Set your sights on influencing the UA campus by becoming involved in one of the groups, organizations or clubs already in place. You will have the opportunity to meet and greet these active organizations today on the UA Mall as a part of Wildcat Welcome 2001. Group leaders and members will be available to answer questions about getting involved on campus today between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. For more information on this event sponsored by the Center for Student Leadership and Involvement, call 621-8046.

Get ready for an amazing night of music, entertainment and food as the Associated Students of the University of Arizona present "Catfest 2001" today from 4 p.m. to midnight. This university-wide event will feature local talents as well as the nationally acclaimed rock band Eve 6. There will be food throughout the new student union, vendors on the mall, a Seventeen magazine fashion show and more. Just look for the fun tonight on the UA Mall areas and in front of Centennial Hall. Call Pamela at 791-7840 for more information.

This Weekend

Arizona volleyball is back in full effect as the defending Pac-10 champs. The team takes on UA alumni at tomorrow's "First Annual Alumni Match." This event will take place in the McKale Center, is free and is open to the public. Sports fans will get a chance to hear the new rules for the 2001 season as well as see some familiar faces from the past. For more information on this knockout game tomorrow from 9 a.m. to noon, call the volleyball office at 621-4885.

Spend a relaxing Sunday indoors as you learn about the intriguing past of Chinese culture and calligraphy. Check out the UA Museum of Art's public lecture and demonstration with Arizona State University faculty member Tad Ballew. Beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday, explore the Chinese artistic environment and its social and political history through films, paintings and hands-on demonstrations. For more information on this lecture series, call Alisa Z. Shorr at 621-7567.

The UApresents concert series opens its 2001 season with "Los Lobos" Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to see these Grammy award-winning artists can be purchased through the Centennial Hall box office at 621-3341. Ticket prices vary and are going fast, so call today to reserve a seat.
