A UA student called police Thursday from a campus building after she noticed that a man was staring at her while touching his genitals through his pants, reports stated
The student noticed the man while she was listening to her headphones on a second-floor study room of the Science Library, 744 N. Highland Ave. She looked through the glass wall and noticed he had walked past her and looked at her as many as eight times, reports stated.
The man would walk within two feet of the window and then move toward the elevator and push the elevator call buttons.
The student wondered if she knew him when the man stooped down and stared at her. She realized that she didn't recognize him, but did notice he was grabbing his crotch. She told officers that he was "jacking off," reports stated.
The man then laughed loudly and took the elevator to another floor. The student was afraid and waited 10 minutes before leaving the library and calling police, reports stated.
She described the man as being in his mid-20s and having a square face with a blockish chin, reports stated. She told officers that she would feel comfortable making a composite sketch of the suspect.
A UA student called police Thursday from a campus building and told them he planned to dispose of nine bottles of a tranquilizer, reports stated.
The student met with officers outside the Microbiology building, 1117 E. Lowell St. Police watched the student use Drug Enforcement Agency standards to dispose of the expired Ketamine, reports stated.
Officers signed the DEA form, which stated that they witnessed the proper disposal of the drug.
A UA truck was broken into near campus Tuesday morning, reports stated.
Employees called police and said that a locked box in the bed of a truck had been broken into between 12:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Employees noticed that the box was left open and that the truck's battery cables were unhooked. A key and an unknown tool were missing from the box, reports stated.
Police told the employees to call back if they realized that other items were stolen. Police were unable to take fingerprints of the truck because it was dirty and employees had touched the evidence since the theft.
There are no suspects and no witnesses at this time, reports stated.
A UA employee was arrested Thursday near campus after police learned that he had a warrant for fishing without a license, reports stated.
Officers saw the employee drive through a stop sign while turning eastbound onto East Sixth Street, reports stated.
Officers spoke to the employee after they pulled the vehicle over at North Martin Avenue and East Sixth Street.
Juan Portillo, 43, of the 1900 block of West Valencia Street, told officers he was driving without any insurance. Police ran a background check on the employee and learned that he had a warrant issued by the Arizona Game and Fish Department for failing to appear in court for a charge of fishing without a license.
Portillo was arrested and booked into Pima County Jail for the warrant, suspicion of failing to stop at a stop sign and driving without a proof of insurance, reports stated.
A UA employee called police Thursday after he noticed that a can of air freshener was stolen from the Arid Lands Studies building, 1955 E. Sixth St., reports stated.
The employee told officers that he saw the can of air freshener at 5 p.m. in the bathroom of the building and when he returned the next morning it was gone. He told officers he suspects a particular graduate student stole the can but could not prove it, reports stated.
A UA employee's tires were deflated Thursday while parked in a campus garage, reports stated.
The employee told police he parked his car at 5 p.m. Wednesday on the southeast side of the Second Street Garage, 1340 E. Second St. When he returned the next morning, his tires were flat. The employee said he believes the air was released when the valve stem was unscrewed.
The employee told police that a similar incident occurred approximately two weeks ago.
Officers arrived at the scene and inspected the vehicle. The tires had already been inflated by the employee and officers found nothing out of order. There are no suspects and no witnesses at this time, reports stated.
